| 5th KidSmart Center Inaugurated!
|

| On January 28, 2010, a fifth KidSmart Center was inaugurated at Govt. Primary School, Lalapet, Secunderabad. |
|
| The chief guest for the inauguration was Shri. Navin Mittal, IAS, Dist. Collector and Chairman, Rajiv Vidya Mission (RVM), Hyderabad. Apart from him, a number of dignitaries and officials from the Education department – Govt. of Andhra Pradesh attended the inauguration. The dignitaries included Mr. V N. Masthaniah, Joint Director, Project Officer, RVM, Hyderabad; Mr. Balakasaiah, Deputy Educational Officer, Marredpally Mandal and Ms. Zaheeda, Deputy Inspector of Schools, Marredpally Mandal. From Mahindra Satyam Foundation Mr. V C. Kumar, Head & COO, Mr. Nanda Kishore and Mr. P. Gangadhar Rao were present.

| While Shri Navin Mittal inaugurated the IBM KidSmart Early Learning Center, Mr. V C Kumar inaugurated the technology corner. Other dignitaries inaugurated individual Young Explorer Units in the technology corner.

| Shri Navin Mittal lauded the efforts of Mahindra Satyam Foundation for introducing this innovative KidSmart centers in Govt. Schools. He was of the opinion that these centers using technology will give children a strong knowledge base which will definitely benefit them in future. The KidSmart center will benefit a total of 600 children.

| The inauguration was followed by two day training for the teachers on KidSmart program by Mahindra Satyam Foundation coordinators on 28th and 29th January 2010. 12 teachers from the host school and four neighboring schools attended the training program. |
|
|
On day one, the training covered introduction of the teachers, briefing about the KidSmart program, three corner concept, five activities, roles and responsibilities of partners and the objective of the project.
|
|
|
This was followed by the teachers and Vidya Volunteers exploring the KidSmart computers and acquainting themselves with the software. This exercise helped them understand how the software will help them as well as the students with their regular curriculum.
|
|
|
On the second day, teachers engaged themselves with the software. This was followed by explaining craft activities, experimentation, dramatization, and maintenance of systems, records, technical guidelines, preparing a time-table for host and neighboring schools according to their feasibility. The training ended with a session of play for peace.
